3.5 starsExcellent read. I didn't want to put it down.To date, I've read twelve books by J. Lindsey and my two favorites are this book and "Gentle Rogue." Both of them have a girl dressed as and pretending to be a boy. The two heroes are Jeremy in this book, and his father James in "Gentle Rogue." In this book, there were some clever lines and scenes. I admired the way Danny (the heroine) would face someone and tell them the truth about why she was leaving or what she thought instead of running off
I Always Always have this weakness with Johanna Lindsey's books, that is I tend to read them through to the end within 24 hours. I simply CAN'T STOP!I can't even remember the dozens of her titles that i have read, i just remember having butterfly in my stomach reading them!! *Reread Review*This, I think, is one of my most favorite Malory novels. Honestly, by now we have watched Jeremy Mallory our MC here practically grow into a man and he has always been one of my more favorite Malory's, with his fun loving, bounder attitude. While Dani does do a 360 in this book she is also one of my favorite Mallory book FMC's because she just doesn't take no crap and will lay a man out! Okay, I'm cheating here, and I don't like them all equally, but I do love the Mallory's. They're all funny. I especially liked Love Only Once (the first book), Gentle Rogue (my favorite), and The Magic of You (where the heroine chases the hero shamelessly).
After reading this book for a third time, I realized 2 things: (1) I haven't written a review about it and (2) I don't like it nearly as much as I did the first two times. I've always know what the problem was, and somehow, when it came to Jeremy, I was able to forgive. But not this time. I hate JL's Malory Men, and a few Andersons (but who really cares about them at a time like this).At the tender age of 5, Danny is found abandoned and without any memory of her life prior, by an orphan gang.
5 brilliant stars!I adore Pygmalion themed romances and I adored this one! The Malory family is the best family in historical romances ever!When Danny is five, she wakes up in an alley, bleeding with no memory.
