Rating: 3.5/5 starsYou seem always ephemeral, like a glittering shallow stream that passes the whole world by. Not something that will stay, not something that will last. Not someone permanent. While Magnus is an interesting topic to read about, I thought the transitions were poor and the world building was minimalist.

Sadly, What Really Happened in Peru wasn't very near to meeting expectations. The writing was very inconsistent, which makes it very evident that the story was written by more than one author. The inconsistent writing took away the endearing experience that I usually have while reading books in the Shadowhunter's Chronicles and
Humans did not live forever. They could only hope what they made would endure. This follows Magnus and many of the different years that he spent in Peru. In 1791, with Ragnor Fell, and taverns, and monkeys, and pirates! Then we get to see Magnus in 1885 with Ragnor and Catarina, where Magnus is accepting a mysterious job.
